Hi, I’m Kwame
I’m a wedding singer and pianist based in Melbourne. No backing tracks, no gimmicks. Just a voice, a piano, and a room full of people.
My voice sits on a low, warm baritone that lifts into a high falsetto, which suits the modern, soulful ballads couples tend to love. Because I sing and play completely live at the same time, your ceremony and reception feel genuinely alive and personal, never like background noise.
The journey to Melbourne
I was born in Finland to a Finnish mother and a Ghanaian father, in a home where music was always playing. Before I made Melbourne home in 2018, I spent six years in London singing in bands, performing with gospel choirs, and producing for new artists. That’s where the soul, RnB and blues in my sets came from.
Since moving to Australia, I’ve spent years working in professional audio across film and TV. For your wedding day, that means real peace of mind. I know sound inside out, and I take the technical side just as seriously as the music itself.

Yes. Ceremony, canapés, reception, or the whole day. The sing and DJ option gives you live music early and a DJ set to take the night. One thing to note is that I require little bit of time between setups but I can always keep the music playing while I transfer locations.
I’ve done plenty of outdoor ceremonies and weather can be unpredictable. My PA is a battery Bose EVERSE, which means I can set up and play just about anywhere, including out of the way of the weather. If there’s rain in the forecast, I’ll try to set up undercover and keep going. We’ll have a wet-weather plan sorted well before the day, so whatever the sky does, your music goes ahead. In hot +30c weather the gear also doesn’t function well but most venues are happy to provide a sunshade. If that is not available I’ll setup up in a closest shaded location.
Up to 50km from Melbourne is included. Further afield is no problem. It’s $0.88/km beyond that, and for a late finish after 10.30pm a long way out, a $200 accommodation fee may apply.
Best to book as soon as you’re ready to lock in the date. I only ever play one wedding a day, so dates can go quickly. A March or November Saturday can be gone 18 months out, and across a year more than half the enquiries I get are for days I’m already booked. If you’re set on a peak date (October through April), don’t sit on it. The cooler months are easier, so there’s no harm asking even at short notice.
A 25% booking fee locks in your date. The full balance is due 4 weeks before the day. If you ever have to postpone, I can move the fee to your new date, subject to my availability.
In more than 400 weddings I’ve never had to cancel. I’ve even done few weddings with a torn achilles so if I’m physically able to do the gig I will. If the worst ever happened I wouldn’t leave you stranded. I’d work my network hard to find someone I trust, and if I genuinely couldn’t, you’d hear from me as early as possible and get a full refund on anything I couldn’t deliver. If it’s only my voice that’s gone, I may still be able to DJ the night and sort a fair refund on the singing.
Yes. One key-moment song that isn’t already in my list, for your aisle, first dance or signing, for $75. Tell me early, at least 6 weeks in advance, so I’ve got time to do it justice.
Yes. My PA runs on battery (a Bose EVERSE 8), so I can play your ceremony anywhere. A garden, a clifftop, a paddock. No power point needed.
Yes. PA, microphones, keyboard, DJ setup, stands, cables, the lot. Nothing for you to provide.
Yes, I carry public liability insurance, gear insurance and all my gear is tested and tagged.
Yes. I sing live and DJ, often both at the same wedding. I don’t do DJ-only bookings.
This bit’s a team effort. The first thing I want is your do-not-play list, plus up to 50 you love. From there I lean on the floor-fillers that always land, anything from the last 60 years, with over 3,000 tracks on hand. Guests can throw me requests on the night too if you’d like. Also if internet is available at the location, I can stream songs that I might not have for those more obscure requests!
What I don’t do is run the whole night on the mic. That’s a full MC’s job, and I’d sooner pour my energy into the music to give you the best service. But I do cover the back-end announcements for free, things like last drinks, the final song and the send-off. It also means your MC can duck off early once the dancing kicks in, or just enjoy the night.
No. Yours is my only booking that day, so you get all my focus, time and energy, exactly as it should be.
All my gigs are invoiced so no cash please. But if your wedding lands in May, June, July or August, ask me. I can sometimes do something on a quieter date for last minute bookings.
Yes. Overtime can be added for $300/hr. Minimum booking is two hours on weekends and one hour on weekdays (excluding public holidays).
I prefer to have about an hour for an acoustic only setup or two hours when it’s the full package. I can go faster if I have to, but that hour’s the sweet spot for a calm setup rather than a scramble. The easiest thing is to check when your venue lets suppliers in, so we know there’s room. In a pinch I can manage slightly shorter but it’s really dependent on distances between car park, ceremony, canapés and reception. If I don’t get enough setup time before commencing that could lead to DJ portion to start slightly later but this has only happened once due to very bad weather and the ceremony being on the spot I was meant to setup up my DJ table!
Always, and it never eats into your hours. Book seven hours and that’s seven hours of actual music. The setup and pack-down sit either side of that, so that 7 hour booking is actually closer to 9-10 hours.
The honest catch is that a hard volume cap or a sound limiter can really take the life out of the party. I generally recommend avoiding venues that have strict restrictions in place if there are other options and you’re wanting a big party. Few venues require me to run through their in-house system instead of mine which in some cases can sound good but in some cases will sound worse that my system would sound like. None of that’s a dealbreaker.
Also many venues limit the use of subwoofers which can lead to less bass and less energy. I’ve done plenty of weddings with on the 2-way speakers though so it’s also not the end of the world.
